Ralph Cline, a WWI combat veteran, was a local sawmill
operator and former lobster fisherman in Spruce Head, Maine.
He was the subject of a portrait entitled, THE PATRIOT, painted
by Andrew Wyeth. Ralph wore his WWI uniform to patriotic events.
In this series of photos, taken by Mary J. Waterman, he was taking
part in the flagpole dedication at a cemetery containing the
remains of Revolutionary War, Civil War, Spanish American War,
World War I and World War II veterans from the local area.
